Be it enacted by the Legislature of West Virginia:
That the code of West Virginia, 1931, as amended, be amended
by adding thereto a new section, designated §20-2-23g, to read as
follows:
ARTICLE 2. WILDLIFE RESOURCES.
§20-2-23g. Upper area New River study; commercial float trip
operators; and licensing.
Other provisions of this article notwithstanding, the
commission shall investigate and study the feasibility of opening
the upper area New River for calm water commercial float trip boating and activities related thereto, being roughly the zone
between the confluence of the Greenbrier River to the confluence of
the Gauley River, and which study is to be based upon existing and
new studies on the economic impact on the state and new licensing
regulations for the upper New River from Hinton to Prince, which
shall be implemented at such time as the commission deems
appropriate.
NOTE: The purpose of this bill is to effect the opening of
the upper area New River for float trips and bateau style boats
following an economic study of the area and a study of new
licensing regulations.
